Nafeesisboujee
Nafeesisboujee is a 19-year-old rising indie-pop artist, songwriter, and producer, known for his distinct vocal style and nostalgic, coming-of-age sound. Born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa, to Bengali parents with Angolan roots, Nafees began releasing music in middle school, recording, mixing, and mastering his tracks on BandLab. Inspired by the DIY ethos of the Odd Future era and early SoundCloud rap, he shaped his sound through a myriad of digital influences while navigating his identity as a Bengali-Muslim student growing up in an American high school in South Africa. Nafees found his voice in an internet generation shaped by creative pioneers like Steve Lacy, whose breakout album Gemini Rights was a major inspiration for the teen who became enamored with pop melodies and witty love songs. He wrote his breakthrough hit “Stephanie” ahead of moving to the U.S. in 2023 to study at Fordham University. The single was the first song Nafees released in America, and went on to catapult his fanbase across the country, amassing 10M+ streams, 100M+ views, and 30K+ UGCs. Subsequent singles like “Spin U Round,” “Barbie & Ken,” and “Hailey” have made him a relatable voice for teens and college students navigating love, identity, and self-discovery. His latest single, “Maddie,” co-produced by Curtis Waters, is a mature step forward, reflecting on the complicated relationships that have shaped him at just 19 years old. Nafees’ music blends introspection with vibrant, infectious melodies, solidifying his place as one of today’s most exciting young voices in indie-pop. The multihyphenate is gearing up for the release of his debut EP yours truly, Nafees - slated for March of 2025.
